Kathmandu. CPN(UML) lawmaker Raghubir Mahaseth has said that the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation should take initiative to reduce the price of air tickets. He made the request while speaking at a meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee on Sunday.
He said that it is sad that Nepalis have to pay Rs 60,000 to Rs 80,000 for economic class to go to Delhi. He said that we should be serious about how to control it. He said that the Ministry of Aviation should break such things. Nepal-India air volume should be increased, he said.
“Very few of our airlines enter the India route. It is sad that an ordinary Nepali has to pay Rs 60,000 and Rs 80,000 in an economic class to go to Delhi. How do we control it? Another thing is to get a one-side ticket for Rs 40,000, a one-side ticket for Rs 30,000. Which seat to choose now? The front seat will have to pay Rs 5,000 separately. We don’t see this in other countries. Our ministry has to break that. Our airlines may be less, but let’s increase the quantity. ’
The meeting of the committee held in-principle discussion on the Nepal Air Service Authority Bill, 2081 BS on Sunday.
