Last year, at the third investment conference organized by the government in Kathmandu, a team including Nepali NRN Abhishek Bikram Shah, who is in Australia, had committed to building a four-star resort in Rara as a ‘dream project’. He informed that in accordance with the same commitment, Rara Holding Resort Pvt. Ltd. has signed an agreement with the federal government to complete the construction within 18 months.

Chand informed that the resort, which will be built on a total area of 73 ropanis, will be built at a cost of Rs. 1 billion in the first phase. According to him, 36 rooms with 98 beds will be built in the first phase and 19 rooms with facilities in the second phase.

The construction of this resort has started after performing a Bhoomi Puja to serve 100 domestic and foreign tourists daily. Rara Holding Resort Pvt. Ltd. has announced that the foundation stone of the resort will be formally laid on Magh 30 by Minister for Tourism, Forest and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi.

While domestic and foreign tourists visiting the Rara region have been expressing their sorrow over the lack of well-equipped hotels, the project manager Chand informed that the resort is being built with the aim of promoting tourism in the religious areas of Karnali by connecting Sinja Valley, Rara, Chhayanath and Khaptad.

The infrastructure construction of the resort, which will be built at an altitude of 3,500 meters above sea level, will begin from next Chaitra. After the construction, 120 people will get direct employment and more than 1,000 will be indirectly employed, said Prem Shahi, a representative of the resort. According to him, this project aims to attract Indian citizens as religious tourists.

This resort, which will have 98 beds in 55 rooms of old houses of the local community, will have a seminar hall with a capacity of 100, a view of Rara and the Himalayan range from the windows of each room, and after reaching Murmatap, which is half an hour above the resort, the terrain of seven districts can be viewed, said Manager Chand. He said that the construction of the resort was started because all the tourists who come here complain that there are no good arrangements for food and accommodation in Rara.

For the past few years, more than a dozen hotels have been operating in Ghat and Salleri in the Rara region, but these hotels have been facing problems in serving tourists during the season. Birkh Rokaya, a hotelier from Chhayanath Rara Municipality-8, said that tourists coming to Rara will have no problem staying and eating as the first four-star resort in Karnali Province will be built in Murmatap.
