Kathmandu. Janakpur Knights have won the Nepal Kabaddi League (NKL) title, organized for the first time under the franchise team concept. Janakpur defeated Kathmandu Mavericks 45-41 in the final match held today at the National Sports Council Covered Hall in Tripureshwor.
Earlier, Janakpur had reached the qualifiers by finishing on top of the league stage with 23 points. They had won four games in the league stage and drawn with Kathmandu. In the first qualifier, they defeated Biratnagar Bandits 34-32 to reach the finals.
With the title, Janakpur has received Rs. 500,000, while Kathmandu, who was satisfied with the second place, has received Rs. 200,000. A total of six teams participated in the first-ever Franchise Kabaddi League.
