Kathmandu. Rastriya Swatantra Party MP Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has said that the government is going to appoint a governor in the setting. Writing a status on the social network Facebook on Sunday, MP Shrestha said that he is going to appoint a governor in the setting.
He wrote on Facebook, ‘Is this good governance??? We are hearing that the setting syndicate is now taking over the Rastra Bank. Even the little trust that remains of the people is shattered! We are hearing – Rajendra Kishor Chhetri, another governor is being made in the setting! This is not good governance – this is a naked collusion between the government and the syndicate! The people will never accept such a game on the economic backbone of the country.’
The Rastra Bank Act itself clearly mentions the appointment of the governor. Although there is a provision to appoint a governor one month before the end of the governor’s term, the government has not been able to appoint a governor so far. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Manish Jha, CPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Nepali Congress General Secretary Gagan Thapa, and Nepali Congress leader Shekhar Koirala have publicly stated that the government is trying to corrupt the governor’s appointment. The post of Governor of the National Bank has been vacant since Chaitra 24.
