Kathmandu. The lawmakers have said that the government needs to show readiness to resolve the problems seen in industries and corporate houses. They said this while speaking at the meeting of the Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee on Friday.
Speaking at the meeting, National Independent Party MP Ganesh Parajuli said that it is the government’s responsibility to resolve the problems of industries and workers working there.
He said that the government needs to work with readiness to resolve the factual and evidence-based problems raised by industries. He said that industries and corporate houses are currently collapsing and the government needs to be serious about this.
He also asked why industries in Nepal are collapsing.
He said, “It is the responsibility of the state to solve the problems of all workers. It is the responsibility of the state to solve the problems of all corporate houses and all industries. Therefore, the conclusions coming from here in favor of workers and industries should be based on facts, evidence and in accordance with the law. Workers should get their wages at any cost. There is no doubt about this. But why did the industry collapse when it was providing employment to 200 people. What responsibility did the state fulfill when this happened?” Why has a situation arisen in which other industries in Nepal have become household enterprises?’
Speaking at the meeting, CPN (UML) MP Hemraj Rai accused the state machinery of not being responsible for the government’s policy to encourage the private sector.
He said that it was sad that the government bodies themselves were unaware of the problems faced by the industries. He said that although the government is the law-making body, the government machinery has shown irresponsibility when it comes to implementation.
‘How responsibly are you thinking about the policy to encourage the private sector industries being pursued by the government? Shouldn’t we ask the Ministry of Industry and the National Bank of Commerce? Be it the Department of Industry or the Ministry of Industry, when you are appearing in the committee. But it is sad that you are appearing in the way you are unaware. Do not think otherwise. The issue of law implementation is our issue, the government’s issue. Parliament passes the law. The government should also implement it,’ he said.
He said that it is necessary for the state machinery to show readiness in implementing the directives given by Parliament.
