Kathmandu. Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that it is necessary to implement the Construction Entrepreneurs Act to make the construction industry prosperous. He said this while addressing a national gathering of construction entrepreneurs close to the party at the party central office, Sanepa, on Monday.
He said that in the current situation where the global economy is at risk, it is necessary to make the construction industry prosperous, which contributes the most to the country’s GDP and directly/indirectly employs more than 2.5 million people.
He expressed his commitment to take all possible initiatives to formulate the Construction Entrepreneurs Act, laws and regulations to make the construction industry prosperous. He expressed his commitment to take initiatives to resolve issues such as the high cost of construction work, the rising prices of construction materials, and the lack of a suitable environment for business.
Noting that it is today’s need for construction work to be technology-friendly for business promotion, he stressed that the main problem today is that projects are not completed on time and within the stipulated cost.
President Deuba said, ‘In the current situation where the global economy is at risk, and the global economy is facing problems, it is necessary to implement the Construction Work Act to make the construction industry, which contributes the most to the country’s gross domestic product and directly/indirectly employs more than 2.5 million people, prosperous. I would like to express my commitment to take all possible initiatives to formulate the Construction Work Act, laws, and regulations. Apart from this, my serious attention has also been drawn to the issues of the payment that people are facing here, the increase in prices of construction materials, and the lack of a suitable environment for business.’
‘We will continue to work on behalf of ourselves and the party to solve this problem. For business promotion, it is also the need of the day. The main problem today is that the plans are not completed within the stipulated time and at the stipulated cost. For this, the efforts of the construction entrepreneurs alone are not enough. I say that the government should also give priority. Nepali construction entrepreneurs have done excellent work not only in Nepal but also abroad. “To establish our identity at the international level, there is a clear need for us to give special priority to the construction of tunnels, rail services, and the hydropower sector,” he said.
President Deuba said that construction entrepreneurs are the drivers of development and should play their part in making the economy dynamic.
