Kathmandu. Deputy Chief Executive Officer (DEPUTY CEO) of Nabil Bank Bhupendra Pandey has urged journalists to disseminate information only after understanding the sensitivity of the financial sector. He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony of a two-day ‘Advanced Banking Training for Economic Journalists’ programme organized by The Association of Economic Journalists of Nepal (NAFIJ) in collaboration with Nabil Bank in Kathmandu on Friday.

He said that information should not be disseminated without understanding the sensitivity of the financial sector. “There is a lot of negative information about the banking sector now. Even without understanding it, a lot of misinformation is being disseminated, which is affecting the entire region. Therefore, positive information should be disseminated by understanding it well,” he said.

He stressed the need for journalists who are playing the role of agents in economic prosperity to disseminate positive information by understanding the sensitivity of sectors like banks.

He said that financial literacy will be meaningful only through economic journalists. “We have not brought as many programs for financial literacy. They say they don’t have to repay loans from banks,” he said, adding, “In this situation, financial literacy needs to be promoted.” The role of economic journalists is also important. ’

He stressed the need of publishing news in a proper manner to improve the economic condition of the country. “The economic situation of the country is not very good now. At such a time, news should be disseminated in a positive way. The information disseminated by the media has a profound impact on the market. Therefore, information should be disseminated to help improve the economic situation,” he said.
