Kathmandu. President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Chandra Prasad Dhakal has said that creating an industrial environment should be the first priority for industrial development and job creation in the country.
Speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of the two-day 5th National Labor and Employment Conference that began in Kathmandu with the co-organization and support of the Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security of the Government of Nepal and the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and various other organizations, he said that political and policy stability is necessary to create jobs and attract investors.
President Dhakal emphasized the need to identify and promote areas that will increase creative employment in order to utilize the labor force in Nepal and to make appropriate use of the skills, knowledge and capital obtained from foreign employment.
“On the one hand, Nepali The labor force is not getting enough employment opportunities in Nepal, while on the other hand, Nepali employers are not able to get the skilled manpower they are looking for. On the other hand, there is a situation where Nepali manpower is forced to go for foreign employment in search of the labor market.
In this situation, it is necessary to analyze the gap in employment demand, supply, skill development and employment relations and find new opportunities for labor and employment. For that, an environment for investment in the sector should be created. ”He said.
He emphasized that while making policies and rules to create an industrial environment, an uncomfortable situation should not be created in the name of ‘and’, ‘but’, ‘coma’ and ‘or’. Informing that the private sector has created 86 percent of Nepal’s total employment, he said that when the private sector invests in an industry, it not only benefits the government and local residents, but also benefits the government and local residents. Therefore, the government, political parties, and the private sector should have a common vision for development and infrastructure development.
In the context of the Nepalese government declaring the next 10 years as the Decade of Internal Employment Promotion, Chairman Dhakal also said that cooperation between the government and the private sector is necessary to expand production and productivity and find a basis for internal employment. Similarly, he stated that harmonious industrial relations between employers and trade union organizations are necessary for creating an industrial environment, and informed that the Federation is working to maintain harmonious relations between employers and workers.
He said that it was positive that the government, at the initiative of the Federation, had recently passed various laws through the parliament and urged the government to bring regulations and procedures soon. The 5th National Labor and Employment Conference, organized with the objective of seeking feedback for policy and legal reforms in the country’s social and economic transformation and receiving suggestions for policy and programmatic reforms, was inaugurated by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
