Agency. Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has said that Iran will never surrender as demanded by President Donald Trump. Iran’s comments came hours after Trump said the United States knew where Khamenei was hiding and could kill him if it wanted to, and that Iran should “unconditionally surrender” immediately.
On Friday, Iran launched a missile and drone response after Israel launched a massive bombing campaign. “This nation will never surrender,” Khamenei said in a written address to state television, calling Trump’s ultimatum an “unacceptable” condition. “The United States must understand that any military intervention will cause irreparable damage,” he said.
Khamenei, who has been in power since 1989 and is the last mediator in all Iranian state affairs, has previously pledged that Iran will show no mercy to Israeli leaders. Khamenei said Iran would not bow down to the UNITED States after the IAEA confirmed that israeli strikes destroyed two buildings that made centrifuge components for Iran’s nuclear program near Tehran.
