Kathmandu. Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga has refused to hold direct talks with US President Donald Trump. He said that Iran does not want to sit directly with the US, although he is not against talks, and is only ready for indirect talks.
The Trump administration has warned of bombings and further economic sanctions if Tehran does not agree to the deal. President Peshmerga said after a cabinet meeting that the US must first correct its mistakes. According to him, direct talks are not possible until the US can win trust. Iran has rejected the offer of direct talks by sending a reply to the US President’s letter through Oman. Meanwhile, US President Trump said in an interview with NBC that the US could bomb Iran if it does not agree to the deal.
He warned of reimposing tough economic sanctions, just like four years ago. According to analysts, Iran is right not to trust Trump, because he broke the nuclear deal in 2015. Kamal Kharazi, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said that not all doors are closed to talks with the US.
He said that through indirect talks, Iran will understand the intentions of the other side and then make the appropriate decision. According to the UN International Atomic Energy Agency, Iran is not trying to build nuclear weapons, but it does have the necessary nuclear material. Iran has claimed that its nuclear program is peaceful. The Iranian economy has been weakened by US sanctions, which has made the talks even more important. However, this diplomatic problem has become more complicated after disagreements in direct talks.
