Kathmandu. Public Accounts Committee Chairman Hrishikesh Pokharel has said that the Accounts Committee will support the promotion of the private sector. Speaking at a program organized by the Nepal Association of Economic Journalists (NAFIJ), Chairman of the Accounts Committee Pokharel emphasized that the issue of the halted IPO of hydropower should be resolved rather than debated.
He said that the issue decided by the Public Accounts Committee can be resolved by discussing it again.
‘It seems that the businessmen have reached the Finance Committee to show that they need to discuss the issue of the decision made by the Public Accounts Committee,’ said Chairman Pokharel. ‘We should discuss it after submitting an application to the committee.’
He said that submerged companies are also issuing IPOs. He clarified that although he could not put all the companies in the same basket, the decision was made after studying various trends.
“We have decided that the promoter investor should not exit until the loan is repaid,” Pokharel said. “If we give 10 percent shares to locals, does it mean that they are burdened with the debt or sharing a percentage of the profit? It should be clear.”
