Kathmandu. An ‘International Conference on Digital Crime’ is scheduled to be held from Falgun 15. This was announced at a press conference held at the Attorney General’s Office on Tuesday.
The two-day conference will be held in Kathmandu on Falgun 15 and 16.
Speaking at the press conference, Attorney General Ramesh Badal said that the conference aims to share international experiences and set a roadmap for legal, policy and institutional reforms to make the investigation, prosecution and judicial process of digital crimes effective.
He said that more than 90 representatives from 13 countries, including Nepal, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Maldives, South Korea, Azerbaijan, India, China, Sri Lanka, Norway and Russia, will participate in the conference. He said that government lawyers, legal experts, judges and high-ranking officials of the concerned bodies will participate.
He said that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli will inaugurate the conference. He said that 16 working papers will be discussed in 4 plenary sessions and 8 parallel sessions over two days.
He said that topics such as sexual violence through technology, cybercrime, digital fraud and financial crime, online exploitation, violation of personal privacy, methods of collecting digital evidence, international legal cooperation and cyber legal policy making will be discussed.
He said that organizing the conference will provide Nepal with an opportunity to present itself as an active nation in the international arena in terms of judicial reform, building a technology-friendly legal structure, protecting human rights and controlling cybercrime.
