Integrated efforts including cooperation and cooperation in disaster management needed: CM Karki

Biratnagar. Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki has pledged to reduce and manage disasters by cooperating and collaborating with the stakeholders under the state machinery. Inaugurating the ‘Koshi Province Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Integrated Practice Hand-in-Hand-7’ programme here today, he pledged to make integrated efforts with cooperation and cooperation to mitigate disaster-related incidents and damage caused by them.

Chief Minister Karki stressed the need for cooperation and cooperation as the role of security agencies including Nepal Army, Nepal Red Cross Society and Nepal Scouts was important in disaster mitigation, rescue and relief distribution.

Quoting meteorologists, he stressed the need for coordination among the local bodies, chief district officers and responsible bodies in this regard as disaster incidents have been reported in some places of Koshi state even before the onset of monsoon.

Expressing regret over the fact that the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) had written a letter to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) a year ago to arrange for the deployment of Nepal Army helicopters at Biratnagar Airport, chief minister Karki said the authorities concerned should pay attention to the irreparable losses caused due to the delay in sensitive issues directly related to human health.

Minister for Internal Affairs and Law Rewati Raman Bhandari said the state government was serious about reducing the risk arising out of disaster-related incidents, adding that rs 15 million had been allocated for disaster risk reduction in the current fiscal year.

Stating that the disaster-prone areas in the state have already been identified with a map, he said the government was working in favor of reducing the damage by making an action plan in such vulnerable areas. A total of 90 people, including Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Nepal Red Cross Society, Nepal Scouts and civil servants, are participating in the two-day exercise on disaster management organized by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Law and managed by Eastern Pritana Headquarters, Itahari, Sunsari.
