It has urged the control of the illicit drug market, saying it is reshaping it. In its 2024 annual report published in Vienna on Tuesday, the INCB highlighted the growing production and consumption of synthetic drugs.
Which are often more potent than plant-based drugs. Criminal players are exploiting regulatory loopholes to create new synthetic substances.
Which is posing additional challenges to enforcement efforts. The INCB has called for more coordinated action by the government and the private sector to curb the production, trafficking, and consumption of illegal synthetic drugs.
