Indian Ambassador Srivastava thanks Nepal for its stand against terrorism

Kathmandu. India has thanked Nepal for expressing solidarity with the government and political parties in protesting against the terrorist attack in the Jammu and Kashmir region of India and the steps taken against it.

Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava, during a meeting and discussion with editors of mainstream media outlets in Kathmandu at the Embassy in Lainchaur on Friday, expressed happiness over the Nepali government and the entire Nepali people standing against the terrorist attack in the Jammu and Kashmir region and stressed that the entire world should be united against terrorism.

Similarly, he thanked the entire civil society here and especially the mass media sector for the support and solidarity received, and expressed confidence that support would be received in the coming days as well. Giving information about the terrorist attack that killed 26 innocent people, including a Nepali, in Pahalgam, Kashmir, and the developments that followed, Ambassador Srivastava said that Pakistan is responsible for the Pahalgam attack.

Says that Pakistan’s ‘The Resistance Force’ (TRF) attacked Pahalgam on ‘April 22’, killing 26 civilians. He regretted that since then, it has been continuously attacking the common people of Jammu and Kashmir, including religious, archaeological and historical heritage sites, and is trying to escalate the conflict between the two countries in any way it can.

Even after the Pahalgam attack, Pakistan has been intensifying drone and missile attacks in the border area, destroying Indian army check posts along the ‘Line of Control’ in the Kashmir region, and Informing that 16 Indians were killed, Ambassador Srivastava clarified that despite such irreparable losses, India exercised restraint and only retaliated.

Expressing regret over the Pakistani government’s deliberate and continuous dissemination of false and misleading information to fuel the conflict between the two neighboring countries, Ambassador Srivastava said, “India is not in favor of escalating the conflict, but it is in favor of protecting the country and its people and is not in favor of making compromises with anyone.” Meanwhile, the Pakistani people also seem to be in favor of peace, the entire world community is standing against terrorism, and the attention of the Pakistani government and its army needs to be paid to this.”

He also informed that the Indian side has not suffered any losses in the ongoing conflict in the border area, as the Pakistani side has spread confusion. Clarifying that the responsible mass media and agencies of India are not promoting war, he requested that people rely on the official bodies of the state for real and factual news regarding the ongoing conflict.

He stressed that the international community should unite in favor of world peace by standing firm against terrorism, as the ongoing conflict in the Kashmir region, including terrorism and terrorist attacks, will affect not only India and Pakistan but also the entire world, including the SAARC region. On the occasion, Ambassador Srivastava, in response to a query from the media, today called Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli Informing about the meeting, he expressed happiness over the Prime Minister’s solidarity with the opposition to terrorism and the steps being taken against it.

Similarly, he also informed that the Prime Minister has expressed a commitment not to allow any of Nepal’s land, which is firmly in favor of world peace, to be used against terrorism. In response to another question, Ambassador Srivastava said that security arrangements have been tightened at some airports and border areas in sensitive areas in India, and assured that there will be no problem in the supply system to neighboring Nepal.

He requested to be assured that the supply system of any kind of goods, including petroleum products, to Nepal will be smooth, and pointed out the need for special attention to border security from both sides to prevent unwanted activities, including infiltration, considering the existing uncomfortable situation.
