Incessant rains in Dhangadhi: Water enters 2,000 houses, eight people rescued

Kailali. Houses in Dhangadhi have been submerged due to continuous rain since Sunday. Police rescued eight people trapped in the inundation today.

Eight people, including four from Sri Lanka in Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan City-13 and four from Beli village in Dhangadhi, have been rescued, informed Shivraj Joshi, Administrative Officer and Information Officer of the District Administration Office, Kailali.

According to him, after the one-storeyed mud house of Sitaram Rana from Beli was submerged, four members of his family including him have been rescued and shifted to a nearby relative’s house. Similarly, four members of the same family from Dhangadhi-13, Sri Lanka, have been rescued and taken to a nearby basic school.

Information Officer Joshi said that due to heavy rains since last night, water has entered nearly two thousand houses in the Dhangadhi Sub-metropolitan area. He said that wards 3, 4, 13, 1, 7 and 11 of Dhangadhi have been affected due to the rains.
