Kathmandu. In Magh alone, 478 fire incidents have occurred across the country. Nepal Police spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General of Police Dinesh Kumar Acharya, has informed that 22 people have died in these fire incidents.
According to him, the deceased include 11 men, 10 women and a child. 87 people including 26 men, 54 women, four boys and three girls have been injured in the incident.
The Police Headquarters has informed that 17 families have been displaced due to the fire incidents. Acharya also said that 3,503 police personnel have been mobilized to control the fire.
The highest number of fire incidents has occurred in Koshi Province with 129 fire incidents. After that, 89 fires occurred in Madhesh Province, 42 in Bagmati Province, 37 in Kathmandu Valley, 39 in Gandaki Province, 63 in Lumbini Province, 32 in Karnali Province and 47 in Sudurpaschim Province, according to the police. Police spokesperson Acharya said that 68 houses and 66 sheds were damaged in the fires.
A total of 247 livestock were damaged. The financial loss from the fires was more than 184.8 million rupees, according to the details made public by the Police Headquarters.
