Kathmandu. National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chairman Tapa Bahadur Magar has expressed dissatisfaction over the minimum implementation of their recommendations. He said this while speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Commission in Lalitpur on Tuesday.

Although the Commission has been making various recommendations since its inception, the implementation of the recommendations made is low, he said. He complained that although some implementation has been made in the case of compensation, the recommendations made for action have not been implemented.

He argued that impunity has prevailed due to non-implementation of the recommendations made by the Commission for action. Magar informed that 58 complaints related to human rights violations have been registered so far in the current fiscal year and 164 complaints have been disposed of during that period.

He opined that the utility of human rights would be easier only if the responsibilities created at the national and international levels were implemented by the government.

“The utility of human rights can be facilitated only if the responsibilities created by the Government of Nepal at the national and international level are implemented,” he said. Since the beginning of the fiscal year 2081/82 BS, 58 complaints related to human rights violations have been registered and 164 complaints have been disposed of. The Commission has been making various recommendations since its inception. However, the implementation of the commission’s recommendations has been poor. Although some implementation has been made in the case of compensation, the recommendations made for action have not been implemented. The lack of implementation of the commission’s recommendations for such action has led to impunity. ‘

He made it clear that the Commission has the responsibility to monitor the country’s failure to fulfill its obligations and make it accountable for fulfilling its responsibilities.
