Kathmandu. CPN (Maoist Center) MP Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami has expressed dissatisfaction over the removal of some Dalit-related issues from the government’s policies and programs, which were continued by the previous government.

He expressed his dissatisfaction while participating in the discussion on the government’s policies and programs for the fiscal year 2081-082 in the National Assembly meeting on Sunday. He said that it was wrong to remove the item number 213 related to Dalits to form a powerful and empowered Dalit authority.

He said that it was sad to remove the issue of institutionalizing the traditional skills and experience of Dalits and connecting them to the capital market at a time when there are economic problems everywhere, and accused the previous government of not having any mention in the policy and program about capital creation in the country by utilizing the skills, knowledge and capital of the youth who returned from foreign employment. Instead, he accused the previous government of removing the program.

He said, ‘While criticizing the policy and program brought by the government, the ruling party MPs have said that it is exactly right, that it has been brought in keeping with the situation of the country. And we, the opposition, are calling it ritualistic. Some of the good practices of the previous government were to understand the views of all the honorable members who discussed the budget and policy program before it was made, and to synthesize and theoreticalize it and make it complete. That practice has now been removed. We are not in that practice.’

‘And the issues that the previous government brought on the issues of workers and farmers, Dalit women, tribals, etc. have also been cut. In particular, the issue of Dalits was in point number 213. The issue of forming a powerful and empowered authority and institutionalizing the skills, knowledge and traditional experiences of Dalits in the capital market has been removed here. “There were some provisions introduced by the previous government that targeted the youth, especially those who have gone for foreign employment, to utilize the labor, skills, knowledge and capital and to create an environment for capital formation in Nepal,” he mentioned.

National Assembly member Sarki said that the public’s view of the government’s leadership is negative and that the country is close to an accident if it is not corrected. He said that all political parties should hold discussions and reach an understanding to save the country from a possible complex situation.
