Manang. The ‘HPV vaccination’ campaign against cervical cancer has started in the district from today. Girls in the age group of 10 to 14 years in the district will be vaccinated.
Rajendra Shrestha said that one hundred and three girls studying in classes 6 to 10 will be vaccinated with HPV. According to him, 103 school-going girls and 109 out-of-school girls aged 10 to 14 will be vaccinated with HPV vaccine.
He said, “A total of 109 girls in the district will be vaccinated against cervical cancer. We are preparing for the vaccinators with various training and orientation.” HPV vaccination against cervical cancer will be administered in Ngisyang, Narpabhumi, Chame and Naso rural municipalities of Manang.
On the same day, on February 18, 19 and 20, the vaccination will be administered from the vaccination centers of Annapurna Secondary School in Ngisyang, Lokpa Secondary School in Chame, Gauri Shankar Basic School and Prakash Jyoti Secondary School in Naso, said the Chief of the Provincial Public Health Office, Manang. Rabina Thaguna said.
It is said that the health department heads of all municipalities, heads of all 24 health institutions in all municipalities, the District Public Health Office and the District Ayurvedic Hospital will be directly involved in conducting the vaccination program.
Thaguna said that the vaccination campaign was launched later than in other districts as all schools in the district were closed due to the cold. Chief Thaguna said that although 103 girls from all schools in the district and 109 others will be vaccinated in the vaccination program, the number of others is expected to increase.
The vaccination center has been designated at Prakash Jyoti Secondary School in Naso Rural Municipality-5, Gauri Shankar Secondary School in Chame Rural Municipality-1, Lokparik Secondary School in Chame Rural Municipality-4, and Annapurna Secondary School in Manang Ngisyang Rural Municipality-6. Girls who do not go to school will be vaccinated through the health office or designated vaccination centers.
