Tanahun. More than 14,000 girl students in the district are going to be vaccinated against cervical cancer with HPV vaccine. 14,278 girl students studying in all ten local level schools in the district are going to be vaccinated with HPV vaccine.
The HPV vaccination campaign will be conducted from Magh 22 to 30, informed Shankar Babu Adhikari, Chief of the Health Office. In the first phase, the campaign will be conducted in Byas Municipality, Bhanu Municipality, Devghat, Bandipur and Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality from Magh 22 to 25, while in the second phase, the vaccination campaign will be conducted in Shuklagandaki Municipality, Bhimad Municipality, Myagde, Rishing and Ghiring Rural Municipality from Magh 27 to 30.
According to the office chief officer, 14,278 school-going girls from grades 6 to 10 and 200 non-school-going girls will be vaccinated. 1,495 people from Bhanu Municipality, 3,855 from Byas Municipality, 657 from Devghat Rural Municipality, 939 from Bandipur Rural Municipality, 1,236 from Aanbukhaireni Rural Municipality, 766 from Myagde Rural Municipality, 2,706 from Shuklagandaki Municipality, 1,277 from Bhimad Municipality, 580 from Ghiring Rural Municipality and 787 from Rishing Rural Municipality will be vaccinated.
HPV vaccination will be provided to all girl students from grades 6 to 10 and out-of-school girls aged 10 to 14 by operating vaccination centers in every school. The official said that the HPV vaccination campaign will be conducted from additional vaccination centers to reach villages, villages and backward communities that do not have schools.
HPV vaccination service was launched in Chitwan and Kaski about nine years ago. At that time, vaccination centers were run in every school and HPV vaccination was given in two doses six months apart to class 6 girls and 10-year-old girls who were not attending school.
