Kathmandu. Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Poudel, while delivering the budget speech at the joint session of parliament, surprised many on the tax on electric vehicles. In his budget speech, Minister Poudel had said, “I have kept tax on all types of electric vehicles intact.

When Finance Minister Poudel made public the information that the tax has not been increased in the budget, there was a burst of laughter in the parliament. But the issue of not increasing taxes has been a surprise only for some businessmen. In the last fiscal year 2081/82, Cymex Inc. had stocked 1,498 vehicles before May 15 after receiving information from former Finance Minister Barshaman Pun that the tax would be increased.

According to finance ministry sources, there was a new wave among auto entrepreneurs after Cymex Inc. stocked 1,498 vehicles. But this time too, Symex Inc. has once again stunned all auto entrepreneurs.

Cymex Inc. imported only about 350 vehicles before June 14, 2082. According to ministry sources, byd investors in collusion with Finance Minister Poudel have given surprises to other businessmen. An auto businessman said that employees of Cymex Inc. were preparing documents to miss customs clearances for more than 700 vehicles. The businessman said, “There was information that BYD employees had prepared documents to import a large number of vehicles saying that the tax on EV would be increased, but looking at the status of import, their safe setting was seen. ”

In every discussion before the budget, there was a discussion to increase the tax on EVs amid pressure from sources. But in the end, the tax did not increase. A top source in the Finance Ministry said that looking at the status of the import of EV vehicles, it is certain that the information will not be increased because in the last year’s budget, byd has released only about 350 vehicles this time. Similarly, the vehicles of Omoda and J, which are being sold by Sharda Group, have been imported less.

According to the employees, The Sharda Group has brought only 43 Omodas. Similarly, only seven vehicles have been brought.

Advance notice to 2 companies evading taxes

Symex Inc. and SPG Automobiles, which sell electric vehicles BYD, are evading taxes on vehicle imports. Billions of taxes are being evaded by evading kilowatts in BYD’s Atto 3, while tax has also been evaded on Omoda E-5.

In its 62nd report, the Office of the Inspector General has stated that electric vehicles have evaded taxes. Tatopani Customs Office and Rasuwa Customs Office alone have written an application in the name of the Customs Department to investigate and recover rs 3.72 billion in revenue.

According to customs data, two major companies involved in tax evasion have received information in advance that the tax will not be increased. BYD had imported 35.35 vehicles last year. In this sense, the monthly average import of BYD is around 300. However, finance minister Bishnu Poudel has already provided information to BYD and Sharda Group after allocating only 350 vehicles before the budget. Last year, 584 units of Omoda vehicles were imported. Similarly, 175 vehicles were imported.
