Doti. The construction of the building of the District Hospital Doti has been delayed due to lack of budget. The construction of the building has been started since 2077 BS with the aim of increasing the standard of the hospital, which was operating with 25 beds, to 50 beds. The construction of the building has not been completed yet.
After the budget allocation for the fiscal year 2077/78 BS under the federal special grant, the hospital had entered into an agreement with ‘Keys Construction Dhangadhi Kailali’ on 2077 Falgun 7 to construct the building for 100 million 27 lakhs.
As per the said agreement, the building was to be constructed by 2079 Falgun. After the construction work could not be completed on time, citing Covid-19 and price increase, the deadline was extended in 2079 Falgun to 2080 Magh. Even during that period, the work could not be completed. So far, the physical progress of the building is 92.75 percent.
Dr. Sujit Kumar Mandal, acting medical superintendent of the hospital, said that Rs. 86.5 million has been paid to the entrepreneurs involved in the construction. No budget has been allocated for the construction of the building in the current fiscal year. Hospital Management Committee Chairman Dhan Bahadur Nepali said that the necessary funds for the construction of the building have been sought from the Ministry of Social Development of the Far West Province to the Federal Ministry of Health and Population. But he said that the budget has not been secured yet.
‘Hospital services are being affected due to the lack of a building,’ said Dr. Mandal. He informed that due to lack of buildings, the hospital has not been able to arrange for a child nutrition center, breastfeeding room, surgery room, etc.
