Kathmandu. Kathmandu: Government spokesperson and Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has said that the meeting of the House of Representatives would resume soon. Responding to a question from media persons after announcing the decisions of the cabinet meeting on Wednesday, government spokesperson Gurung said that the meeting would resume by Sunday or Monday (today or tomorrow).
Opposition parties have been disrupting the parliament session demanding the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak over the visit visa issue. He clarified that the resignation of the Home Minister would not come when the CIAA has initiated an investigation against an employee and started an investigation against the employee.
He argued that the government would not be able to run if the minister continues to resign as soon as the investigation is done against the employees. Discussions between the ruling party and the opposition are still going on to remove the obstruction of parliament, he said.
Stating that discussions were underway on how to form a parliamentary inquiry committee instead of resigning, the Home Minister said that the Home Minister would answer the questions raised in the House and the opposition should open the parliament and cooperate and move forward the process of discussion related to the budget.
Minister Gurung said, “It has been many days since parliament was disrupted. The CIAA has started an investigation against an employee. On an employee of the Ministry of Home Affairs. The government will not function if the minister continues to resign as soon as an employee is investigated. It was inappropriate in many ways. The way parliament is being disrupted now, discussions are going on between the ruling party and the opposition. Parliament is likely to open today. The home minister’s resignation will not come again. Many are discussing how to make a parliamentary inquiry and what to do. We are working to put forth our views on the questions being raised in the parliament and help the opposition by opening the parliament and moving forward the process of discussion related to the budget. Politics does not move forward by raising small issues about how to take politics and parliament. Parliament will probably run today or tomorrow. ’
Minister Gurung said that politics could not move forward by raising small issues.
