Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Madhav Sapkota has said that the opposition parties are firm in their stand to disrupt parliament until the resignation of Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak. Sapkota said this while talking to media persons at the Parliament House premises on Tuesday.
He said parliament proceedings would not be allowed to proceed until Home Minister Lekhak resigns and ensures an investigation. Sapkota said the Home Minister should resign on moral grounds.
He said that although the Home Minister was willing to resign personally, he did not resign due to pressure from the coalition and his own party.
“Our previous position is that parliament cannot function until the home minister resigns,” he said. What we would like to make more clear is that if our main concern is, then we have to investigate. It has become a national issue and not just an ordinary issue. Since it is a national issue, it should be investigated impartially and the truth should be made public and brought to the people. ‘
“Our main question is that the facts should be made public by investigating the activities and activities carried out in it. We understand that if the Honorable Home Minister resigns morally to make the investigation effective, he will also do good for this investigation. But they are not ready for investigation. We feel that the Home Minister is ready to resign personally, but it is understood that the alliance and his party are asking him not to resign,” he said.
Opposition parties, including the main opposition CPN (Maoist Centre), have been obstructing parliament demanding the home minister’s resignation.
