Hetauda produces 37 million liters of drinking water daily

Makawanpur. Hetauda Water Supply Management Board is producing 37 million liters of drinking water daily. The board has been distributing water to about 165,000 city residents living in the sub-metropolitan area for nine hours daily through 28,112 taps.

Board Chairman Pratap Bista informed that the board has been successful in supplying water 24 hours a day in the main market area of Hetauda. According to him, 16 drinking water consumer committees have been handed over to the board so far. He said that drinking water is being distributed by local consumer committees in wards no. 11, 12 and 13 within the city area.

Hetauda sub-metropolitan area has been providing a minimum of 10,000 liters of water free of charge since Bhadra 2079 BS with the aim of providing clean water to city residents. For this reason, consumers who consume only 10,000 liters of drinking water have benefited further. The board has stated that it has completed the construction of 15 deep tube wells at various places within the city area from its own resources.

Three tube wells in Makawanpurgadhi Rural Municipality, two in Bhimphedi Rural Municipality and one in Hetauda-9 have been completed through private resources, informed the Chairman of the Water Management Board, Bista. According to him, the construction of pumps and water tanks has been completed at 12 different places.

Chairman Bista said that the board has completed the expansion of about 400 kilometers of main and branch pipelines. Chairman Bista said that the work of constructing one overhead water tank, three underground water tanks, four deep borings, expansion of main and branch pipelines and electrification of the federal government’s Water Supply and Sewerage Management Project, Hetauda Sub-metropolitan City and the Board has been completed at a cost of about Rs 150 million, with the co-investment of about Rs 150 million.

With an investment of about Rs 80 million from the federal government, the work of constructing deep borings, overhead water tanks, office buildings and a caretaker’s house in Hetauda-19 Bastipur, expansion of main and branch pipelines and electrification of the unfinished projects has been completed with an investment of Rs 30 million from the Board, and the service is operating after the construction is completed.

With a co-investment of the Bagmati Province Government, construction of a septic tank in Hetauda-19 Bastipur, The board has stated that an underground water tank with a capacity of 500,000 liters and about 20 km of main and branch pipelines have been completed in Deep Tube Well, Trishule. So far, 9,500 taps along with drinking water infrastructure have been handed over to the board from 16 drinking water consumer committees operating in Hetauda-3, 6, 7, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18 and 19.
