Kathmandu. The domestic government herbal company was targeted by royalists last Friday. The Herbal Production and Processing Company Limited, owned by the Government of Nepal, established in 2038 BS, has suffered a huge loss after being targeted by royalists.
Since its establishment, the company has been collecting various medicinal and aromatic herbs scattered in different geographical areas of Nepal through scientific methods and processing them to provide raw materials to domestic industries.
Not only that, it has been creating employment by exporting them to foreign markets. The company’s executive director, Sangita Yadav, said that the arson attack by royalists caused major damage to the industry, which has been contributing to the revenue of the Nepal government.
According to her, the factory plant has been completely destroyed due to the arson attack. The protesters entered two new buildings, including a Good Manufacturing Practice facility built two years ago, vandalized and set fire to them.
Due to the arson, all the raw materials used to produce the medicine, plastic and glass bottles for packaging after production, various packets of kut for packaging the product, factories and automation plants, machines and equipment, as well as furniture and all documents have been destroyed.
For the past 42 years, the company has been buying and selling raw herbs and cultivated seeds at the prices set by the company and has also been mobilizing the country’s existing botanical resources to meet the needs of the medicine. The company mainly produces herbal care products like Sancho, Himalayan Massage Oil, Shilajit Paste, Citronella Oil, Lemongrass Oil.
While Sancho has been sold in 5 ml bottles in the Nepali market for a long time, Yadav says that this company has addressed the market demand and the needs of the citizens. From the financial year 2080/81, the quantity of the bottle was increased to 10 ml. The bottle was already introduced in the market. The company’s central office had given special priority to making the filling and packaging of the currently produced Sanchos technologically advanced.
Sanchos, which are a trusted and reliable medicine for the primary prevention and treatment of problems such as joint pain, fever, colds, sore throats, and nasal congestion, are being filled and packaged using traditional manual techniques. However, with the development of modern technology, the company is preparing to bring its products to the market using state-of-the-art production buildings and machines using automated technology. The same buildings have been targeted by royalists. This has put an immediate brake on the journey of success.
