Kathmandu. CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that he left the Maoist People’s War only after the then King Gyanendra Shah, Girija Prasad Koirala and himself agreed to bring about a republic.
Addressing the gathering and training program of the Nepal Indigenous Nationalities Federation (Socialist) Bagmati Province, close to the party, organized at the party central office Aloknagar on Sunday, he said this. He said that he joined the Maoist People’s War only after the three leaders sat down and reached an agreement. He claimed that his party had decided to bring about a republic in the month of Shrawan when he was in the then CPN-UML.
He said that Koirala and himself had made all the agreements and that the then King Gyanendra had handed over all the rights to the people at that time. Referring to the latest developments, Chairman Nepal expressed his gratitude by saying that he had heard the former King Shah’s secretary say that there was no question of returning the king now and that the king did not want to do so.
He said that after the former king’s unwillingness, there were only rumors outside and that this had calmed his mind. He challenged the former king to form a party and contest the elections if he wanted to do politics, saying that others were trying to take advantage of him by using the name of the former king.
President Nepal said, “I heard one good thing. The good thing is that what one of his former king’s secretary said is true, I don’t know. There is no question of returning the king now, nor is it the king’s will. Nor is it the former king’s will. Even if it is just rumors outside, my mind has calmed down a little. Others were also trying to take advantage of him. If that is the case, I would like to thank former King Gyanendra. If you want to do politics, open a party. Come to the political arena. Go among the people. Win the election and bring a majority. If you do good for the country and the people, it is a matter of happiness. We are telling KP Oli to be good.’
President Nepal asked what the kings did in the past to bring back the king now, saying that dynasty rule cannot do the country any good than the person chosen by the people. He said that dynasty rule will never be good. Is there a plan to build or develop a country behind bringing back the former king? He asked. He accused the king and his close associates of trying to loot the country.
President Nepal said, ‘They are trying to bring back the king. They are talking about bringing back the monarchy to Nepal. What happens when a king comes? What did kings do yesterday and why did they have to bring him in? What new path did he take the country’s development on? The rule of a dynasty can do more good to the country than the people choose and choose. No fact or logic confirms it. Bringing back a king again means pushing back the wheels of history. Dynasty rule is never good. We have seen what his children are like. What will happen if they become the leaders of the country? What benefits the people, why do they need them? How does it benefit the people? Its talent, ability, planning. What made the monarchy necessary? Is there any plan to build the country, is there any plan to change the country? Is there any thought of national development, is there any thought of industrial development, are there any grand plans for education, health and skill development? Nothing. That’s all.’
‘The king and his entourage are trying to loot this country. It’s not that we don’t loot if others loot. It’s that we also loot if others loot. Otherwise, if you have the same love, come and form a good party. Make a party that serves the people. You have participated in the elections. You came by winning the elections. You won and ran the government by winning and getting a majority. That’s why we are saying. Monarchy cannot be an alternative to a republic. Of course, this system must be further developed. It is said that the system has changed, but the situation has not changed. It is also not true to say that it has changed and has not changed, if we look at the roads, the economic condition of the people, education and health, a lot has happened. He said that he is disappointed because of corruption.
President Nepal said that there is no truth in the rumors being spread by the royalists. He said that the royalist leaders are also in the government and stressed that it should not be done by blaming others. He criticized the government for not providing security to his party office despite providing security to the party offices of UML-Congress-NCP (Maoist Center). He demanded immediate compensation to his party.
