Adanchuli. The Gulfagad Srinagar road section, which was blocked by floods, has come into operation. The road, which was damaged due to a landslide caused by incessant rains on April 4, has come into operation after being repaired.
The road section, which is in regular operation, had been completely blocked for a week due to rain. The rural municipality has come into operation after continuous repairs through JCVs. The road has been reopened this morning after four days of repairs by the rural municipality, said Binod Budha, the acting chief administrative officer of the rural municipality.
After the road section, which is the only option to connect the rural municipality center via the Karnali Corridor, is blocked, it has become somewhat easier for citizens using vehicles to go to areas including Gulfagad. Businessman Nawaraj Mahatara says that the village is in dire straits due to the lack of daily necessities after the transportation was stopped for a week.
Not only that, the municipality’s freight trucks transporting business and construction materials have been parked in Gulfagad for a week, but they have only arrived in the center of the rural municipality today. The reopening of the road section has made it easier for everyone from businessmen to consumers when the municipality was facing shortage of various materials due to the road being closed for just a week.
To reach urban areas including Nepalgunj and Surkhet, people had to travel about two hours on foot and take a bus to the Karnali Corridor. That compulsion has been lifted from today.
