Kathmandu. Aam Janata Party lawmaker Prabhu Sah has accused the government of destroying the economy by spreading tax terror. Lawmaker Shah made the allegation while participating in the discussion on the Appropriation Bill in the Meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday.
According to him, tax panic is the main reason for the increase in the cost of production, trade slowdown and the deteriorating condition of the industry sector. Shah also accused the government of adopting a policy to support capital flight instead of protecting domestic capital through the budget.
He said, “Today our industries have become, businesses are in shambles, businesses are in shambles. Not even Rs 25,000 is being traded today as compared to Rs 50,000 yesterday. The only reason for all this is tax panic. There is terror on the part of the government. Due to which production became expensive and our economy was damaged. Nepal’s capital should have been protected. The government should have saved the industrialists. But we have brought a budget to take Nepal’s capital abroad and help in capital flight. Where will this take our economy?”
He also said that the government and corruption have become synonymous. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli said that the absence of the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers during the discussion on the Appropriation Bill under him was condemnable.
