Kathmandu. The government’s expenditure has been seen to be higher than its income until the second quarter of the current fiscal year 2081/82. According to the data of the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General, the government has earned Rs 738.82 billion 13 million by mid-February and spent Rs 839.35 billion 36 million.
That is, the government’s expenditure has been higher than its income by Rs 153.47 million by the second quarter. Similarly, the government’s development expenditure has also been very weak during this period. According to the data of the Comptroller General, capital expenditure as of mid-Falgun is only 23.37 percent of the annual allocation.
The government has allocated Rs 352.354 billion for the capital budget for the current fiscal year, but so far only Rs 82.336 billion has been spent. The government had brought a budget of Rs 1860.333 billion for the current fiscal year.
As of mid-Falgun, 45.12 percent of the annual allocation, or Rs 839.356 billion, has been spent. Out of the Rs. 1,140 billion 660 million 450 million allocated under the current heading, 51.21 percent or Rs. 584 billion 127.8 million has been spent.
Out of the Rs. 367 billion 284 million 450 million allocated under the financial management heading, 47.07 percent or Rs. 172 billion 892.2 million has been spent.
The government has set a revenue target of Rs. 1,471 billion 629.5 million for the current fiscal year, of which 50.2 percent or Rs. 738 billion 821.3 million has been collected so far.
Of which, tax Out of the Rs 1284.20 billion 96 lakh allocated for revenue, 49.74 percent or Rs 638.79 billion 90 lakh has been collected. Similarly, out of the target of Rs 135.93 billion 34 lakh for non-tax revenue, 60.36 percent or Rs 81.54 billion 77 lakh has been collected so far.
The government’s foreign grant collection is also very weak. Out of the target of Rs 52.32 billion 65 lakh for the current fiscal year, 17.51 percent or Rs 9.16 billion 25 lakh has been collected so far.
