Kathmandu. CPN (Maoist Center) Chief Whip Hitraj Pandey has drawn the attention of the government to start the construction of the Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project from the next fiscal year. Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Thursday, MP Pandey drew this attention.
He said that even though this project has been placed in the national pride project, the work that should be done with priority has not been able to proceed. He mentioned that the citizens of Gorkha and Dhading are living in confusion as the work on the project has not started and demanded that the construction be ensured.
He said, ‘The construction of the 1200 MW Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project has not yet started. Even though it has been placed in the national pride project, the work that should be done with the same priority is not being able to proceed. The people of Gorkha and Dhading affected by this project have been left in a state of confusion. This has created an atmosphere of distrust and confusion among the people. Since this reservoir-based power project will play an important role in regular power supply, I would like to draw the serious attention of the government through the Honorable Speaker to make necessary arrangements to start construction from the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83.’
He said that if the hydropower project is completed, it will play an important role in regular power supply.
