Kathmandu. Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Balram Adhikari, has said that the government is working to ensure that the Land Problem Resolution Commission, which has been formed recently, is the final one to resolve land-related issues.

Inaugurating the Land Revenue and Survey Office building in Chabahil, he said that the newly formed commission has been given the authority to resolve land issues. Minister Adhikari said that the authority was given by amending the act after the commission was formed earlier but there was a problem of not being given the authority.

‘You can find out who owns land in whose name across the country through the citizenship number, and action will be taken if it is confirmed that someone has taken land elsewhere,’ said Minister Adhikari. Instructing the employees of the Land Revenue and Survey Office not to work against the rules and regulations, he warned that action would be taken if they work against the public interest.

Admitting that the land that was restricted after the implementation of the land reform in 2021 BS is now registered, Minister Adhikari said that such things should be corrected now.

How much public land is there? He also directed that a record of it be kept. Minister Adhikari said that the ministry will not stop it if it moves ahead procedurally if there is a demand for land for the construction of government structures.

Minister Adhikari said that an office has been built in one place so that the work of the Land Revenue and Survey Office can be done from one place. He said that the problem has arisen because most of the land in the Terai has not been surveyed yet due to various problems.

Arjun Prasad Pokharel, Secretary of the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, said that the problem arose when the land revenue and survey offices were far apart, so both offices were placed in one place to facilitate work.

Secretary Pokharel emphasized that just as the building is new, the employees should also work with new thinking. He directed that the records that are hundreds of years old should be kept safe on the upper floor.
