Kathmandu. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Urban Development Prakash Man Singh has said that the government is making necessary preparations to minimize disaster-related incidents. He said this while speaking at a meeting of the Infrastructure Development Committee under the House of Representatives on Tuesday.
“The government has been carrying out works like cleaning rivers and rivulets on time and constructing dams,” he said. He said that the work of cleaning the rivers has already started from the empowered Bagmati civilization.
He said that the government has allocated budget to minimize the damage caused by sudden disasters.
Deputy Prime Minister Singh said, “It has been suggested that cleaning rivers and rivulets on time and dams will reduce the damage to a great extent.” That’s positive. We have already started cleaning the rivers from our empowered Bagmati civilization. Sudden floods occur, bridges are damaged, the budget was not used immediately. But now we have started a small budget to address disasters. We have already started the necessary preparations from the ministry as per the earlier information about the monsoon. ’
Deputy Prime Minister Singh stressed the need to move ahead by learning from the works done in the past.
