‘Government is committed to developing information technology as a major investment destination’: Minister Bhandari

Kathmandu. Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Damodar Bhandari has said that the government is developing the information technology sector as a major investment destination.

At an interaction on the topic ‘Information Technology-Based Entrepreneurship for Nepal: A New Path to Economic Prosperity’ organized by the Nepal Communist Party (UML) Science and Technology Department here today, he said that the government is active in maintaining good governance in the country through information technology.

Noting that Nepal will be upgraded to the list of developing countries by 2026, he said that for that too, it is necessary to increase investment in information technology. He said that the process of establishing a company has also been taken forward to operate through automation.

‘Today, we have taken forward the work of registering a company while sitting at home. We have made arrangements so that industries can also be registered automatically as soon as the office is registered,’ he said. Industry Minister Bhandari said that the government is providing a sense of good governance in the field of service delivery.

He emphasized that industries that emit smoke and pollution should be taken to the use of information technology. He said that capital and technology have been given special importance and said that today’s development would not be possible if technology was not embraced.

Minister Bhandari also mentioned that preparations are underway to bring a policy to advance future industry and entrepreneurship through information technology. He said that emphasis has been placed on establishing investment, technology and industry by reforming the laws under the ministry. He also said that if there is tax concessions, the development of information technology will be further increased.

Sunaina Pandey, President of the Computer Association of Nepal (CAN), said that the government should facilitate the problems seen in the laws related to information technology.
