Kathmandu. National Assembly member Bamdev Gautam has said that the government is indifferent to the expenses of 12 Nepali women who set out on a trek along the Great Himalayan Trail stretching from Taplejung to Darchula in 17 districts. Speaking during the zero hour of the National Assembly meeting on Wednesday, he said this.

He said that the government should manage the expenses of the women who went on the trek with the aim of introducing Nepal through the tourism sector. He said that the 1,700-km trek is challenging due to remoteness and weather, and necessary security arrangements should be made for the trekkers.

He said, “From a citizen level, it is a very commendable thing for Nepali women to trek along the Great Himalayan Trail stretching across 17 Himalayan districts of Nepal.” This 1,700-kilometer-long trek from Taplejung to Darchula is considered very challenging due to remoteness, altitude, and weather. It seems that the government has become indifferent when the members involved in the trek say that they have to manage the expenses from the citizen level on such a challenging journey. I believe that the Nepal government should have given the responsibility of managing the expenses to the women who set out with the aim of introducing Nepal through the tourism sector. The government should make necessary security arrangements and also arrange air patrols to ensure that there is no shortage in the safety of the trekkers who set out on this journey.’

National Assembly member Gautam demanded that the government make all kinds of support and health treatment arrangements for the 12 women trekkers who set out on the trek on Chaitra 30. He said that Nepal will achieve great achievements after the success of the trekkers.
