Kathmandu. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey has said that there is no tendency among government employees to work with dedication. He said this while speaking at a meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee on Friday.
He said this while replying to the questions raised by lawmakers during the theoretical discussion on the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Bill, 2081 BS. The lawmakers questioned why the private airlines operate the airlines at a profit with less manpower, but why nepal airlines could not improve and take it to profit despite keeping more manpower.
Minister Pandey said that the ground handling work has to be done by Nepal Airlines, so more manpower is required. However, there is a lack of spirit among the government employees to work dedicatedly. This aspect of good governance needs to be corrected, he said.
Minister Pandey said, “He also talked about Himalaya Airlines and Nepal Airlines. The ground handling work should be done by Nepal Airlines. Ground handling requires a lot of manpower. Just like we had about 9.5 million passengers in TIA here. Ground handling should be done by Nepal Airlines not only for themselves, but also for most of them from the Himalayan. There is a difference between government work and non-government or private work. People do not work as dedicatedly as they say in government work. The private sector seems to be utilizing it with minimal manpower. This is part of good governance. Good governance needs to be improved. ’
Minister Pandey said that nepal airlines bye-laws are being prepared regarding the service and conditions of the employees. He said that the government was doing homework to ensure that Nepal Airlines should not be burdened financially by keeping more manpower than required.
