Government committed to helping Thame residents affected by climate change: PM Oli

Solukhumbu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed his commitment to support the residents of the Thame region who are suffering due to climate change. On the eve of the ‘Sagarmatha Dialogue’, Prime Minister Oli expressed his commitment to support the people of Thame, expressing his best wishes for the conference titled ‘Arohi Sammelan, Dialogue for Climate Justice’ organized in Thame village in the Everest region today.

In his message of best wishes, Prime Minister Oli expressed his hope that the conclusions obtained from such a conference on climate change organized in Thame will make the discussion of ‘Sagarmatha Sammelan’ meaningful and result-oriented.

On the occasion of International Earth Day, the ‘Sathsatha Foundation’, an organization working in the field of climate justice, has organized a program titled ‘Arohi Sammelan, Dialogue for Climate Justice’ in the flood-affected area of Thame with the direct involvement of the three levels of government. .

The said program is being attended by Defense Minister Manbir Rai, Forest and Environment Minister Ain Bahadur Shahi, Qatari Princess and Everest climber Asma Al Thani. World-renowned climber Mingma David Sherpa, youngest climber Temba Chiri Sherpa and other mountaineers are also present at the conference organized in Thame, a settlement damaged by an avalanche at an altitude of 3,800 meters.

The organization, in collaboration with Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality, the Ministry of Tourism, Forest and Environment of the Koshi Province Government and the Ministry of Forest and Environment of the Federal Government, organized a conference on climate change in Thame on the eve of the ‘Sagarmatha Sambad’. The conference is being organized in collaboration with various organizations including the Nepal Tourism Board and the Nepal Mountaineering Association.
