Government committed to fulfilling basic needs of people: Minister Yadav

Surkhet. Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav has said the government was committed to fulfilling the basic needs of the people. Inaugurating the Salkot Mega Drinking Water Project at Panchapuri Municipality-1, 2 and 3 of Shivashaktidham, Surkhet today, Minister Yadav said the government was working to fulfill the basic needs of the people mentioned in the constitution.

Stating that safe drinking water is essential to improve the health and living standard of the Nepali people, Minister Yadav said, “With the completion of the drinking water project, the local people will have easy access to clean water, which will have a positive impact on the health, education and economic sectors.” ’

Stating that providing people’s access to drinking water was the main priority of the government, Minister Yadav said he was seriously engaged in the construction of the schemes but also their effective implementation.

Director General of the Department of Drinking Water and Sewerage Management, Engineer Ramukmar Shrestha, said that the Department of Drinking Water is working with initiative to solve the problem of water supply during the dry season and water in the rainy season due to climate change.

“This Panchapuri Salkot Mega Drinking Water Project will solve the drinking water problems of panchapuri residents for the next 30 years,” he said. I am confident that the sustainable operation of this scheme will be carried out under the joint initiative of the Federal Drinking Water Office, State Office and local levels. ’

Chairman of Salkot Greater Drinking Water Users’ Committee Dilliram Niur thanked the government for giving priority to the project and completing it on time. He demanded that such service should be extended to other wards in the coming days.

Acting Chief of Federal Drinking Water and Sewerage Management Project Office, Surkhet, Manish Kumar Raj, said that at least 15,000 people of around 2,771 households of three wards of Panchapuri Municipality are expected to be directly benefited from the Salkot Mega Drinking Water Project.

Federal lawmaker Hridayram Thani, former lawmaker Nawaraj Rawat, Karnali Province lawmaker Bindman Bista, Secretary at the Ministry of Drinking Water E Pramila Devi Shakya Bajracharya, Joint Secretary Meena Shrestha, District Coordination Chief Gangaram Sunar, Panchapuri Municipality Mayor Lalbir Bhandari, Panchapuri Municipality Deputy Mayor Muktidevi Regmi Puri, Chief Jijla Adhikari Jagdishwar Upadhyay and locals and people’s representatives were present on the occasion.
