Agency. According to a recently published report, the global solar (photovoltaic) energy production capacity is expected to increase by about 30 percent and wind energy capacity by more than 10 percent by 2025.

Photovoltaic energy is energy obtained from the technology of converting sunlight directly into electrical energy (electricity). This technology uses special types of semiconductor materials (such as silicon), which emit electrons when exposed to sunlight, and electricity is generated from them.

Photovoltaic systems are commonly called solar panels or solar panels, which are used in homes, buildings, industries, and solar power plants. It is a clean, renewable and environmentally friendly energy source, which plays an important role in reducing dependence on traditional fossil fuels.

The report was jointly released by the Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization and the China National Meteorological Center (CMA). This report is the first to analyze the long-term potential and trends of renewable energy globally and in major countries, and to present forecasts.

The study incorporates weather-related factors into energy production forecasts, which represents significant progress in the collaboration between the energy and meteorology sectors. At present, the world’s energy structure is undergoing a profound transformation, with the contribution of renewable sources such as wind and solar power continuing to increase.

By the end of 2024, the total installed capacity of renewable energy such as wind and solar power worldwide will reach 1.45 billion kilowatts, exceeding thermal power capacity for the first time in history. Xiong Shaoyuan, deputy head of the China Meteorological Administration (CMA), said the organization is committed to providing more effective and timely energy meteorological forecasts through an innovation-based approach.

According to him, the CMA aims to accelerate the conversion of research results into practical applications, promote joint research on key topics in renewable energy meteorology, and cooperate in the development of related standards.
