Kathmandu. Global IME Bank Limited has organized a massive tree plantation program in different parts of the country on the occasion of World Environment Day. On the occasion of its 18th anniversary, the bank had set a target of planting 18,000 trees across the country. On the occasion of World Environment Day on Thursday, the bank organized tree plantation programs in different parts of the country.
On the occasion, the bank planted 1,000 lemon saplings at Balchaur of Lamkichuhan Municipality in Kailali district of Sudurpaschim Province in the presence of Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province Kamal Bahadur Shah and Chief Executive Officer of Global IME Bank Surendra Raj Regmi. A large number of people’s representatives, local citizens and employees of the bank were present on the occasion.
Similarly, the bank planted 300 saplings in the presence of Deputy Chief Executive Suman Pokharel on the premises of Narayanhiti Army Barracks in Kathmandu.
The bank has 3,700 units at diktel, Pragati community forest, Mechinagar, Jhapa and other places of Koshi Province, 5,050 at various places including Rajbiraj, Jitpur, Lahan, Gauhar, Mithila Municipality (Bhatighari Community Forest) of Madhes Province, 2,300 at various places including Narayanhiti Army Barracks, Tokha and Rasuwa of Bagmati State, 2,100 at Baglung and Kaski of Gandaki State, Bijuwar of Lumbini Province. Similarly, 1,500 saplings have been planted in ghorahi, Guleria, Liwang, Birendranagar and Raskot of Karnali state and 2,086 saplings in different places including Balia, Gokuleshwor, Baitadi, Attariya, Dhangadhi, Tikapur and Mahendranagar in the far west.
Local dignitaries were present at the tree plantation program organized by the bank. The bank has collaborated with various organizations to choose the beautification of the city, community forests, schools, hospital premises and public places for tree plantation. The bank believes that the tree plantation will help in protecting the environment, reduce climate change and help in the income generation of the locals.
