Siraha. Gulsana Khatun, a 13-year-old girl from Gobindapur, Golbazar Municipality-9, has died after falling into an electric trap. The Siraha police have stated that Khatun, who had gone to cut grass and fell into an electric trap set to protect the maize crop from wild animals, died.
The police have arrested Bir Bahadur Sarki, 24, of Golbazar-9, Gobindapur, on Chaitra 24 on charges of setting a trap in the said incident and have filed a case against him for murder, said Information Officer Deputy Superintendent of Police Birendra Kumar Paswan.
According to him, Sarki has been remanded in custody for seven days by the District Court for murder and is being investigated at the Area Police Office, Mirchaiya. The body of Gulsana Khatun, the daughter of local Bechan Ali, who had been missing since the morning of Falgun 29, was found wrapped in a sack and buried on the banks of the Ghurmi River.
The day after her daughter went missing, saying she was going to cut grass from home, her mother, Jehda Khatun, had filed a complaint with the Mirchaiya police for a search. The body, wrapped in a sack, was found in a decomposed state on Chaitra 12, the 13th day after the girl went missing.
Immediately, a team from the Central Investigation Bureau, including the Mirchaiya police, and a team from the Madhes Province Police Office arrested Sarki on Chaitra 24 during the investigation. According to the police, the sickle used by the girl to cut grass was recovered as evidence in the incident.
During the investigation, it was found that on Falgun 29 at around 9:00 am, Sarki set up an electric trap to protect his maize from wild animals and the girl screamed shortly after. After the incident, the police said that it was discovered that the body was put in a sack and buried in a pit near the banks of the Ghurmi River.
