Gandaki. The Ministry of Economic Affairs of the Gandaki Provincial Government has started preparations for the budget preparation for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83.
Dilliram Rijyal, head of the budget and program division of the ministry, informed that preparatory discussions are underway with the local levels on the issue of budget formulation and coordination. He said that preparatory discussions have already been held in Nawalpur and Tanahun.
‘Discussions are also being held with private sector industrialists, businessmen and economists on budget preparation,’ said the division chief, ‘We are holding discussions with thematic ministries from Jestha 1 to 11.’ He said that the expectations and opinions of the relevant bodies and stakeholders have been taken into account in the budget preparation.
He said that during the discussion, the local levels suggested making the budget inclusive and effective. ‘The preparatory discussions have provided significant assistance to the ministry in making the budget preparation process participatory,’ he said.
He said that the size of the budget for the coming fiscal year is expected to decrease compared to the current fiscal year. The budget is expected to decrease due to the reduction in equalization grants and shrinking revenue. In the current fiscal year, the provincial government had brought a budget of Rs 32.97 billion.
Division Chief Rizal informed that a budget ceiling of Rs 29.5 billion has been set for the upcoming fiscal year. There is a constitutional provision that the provincial government must bring the budget on Asad 1.
