Kathmandu. The foundation stone of SVAN School at Mahankal Badminton, Ward No. 7 of Chandragiri Municipality was formally laid this morning with an aim to incorporate the rich eastern philosophy and modern 21st century skills.
Mayor Ghanshyam Giri presided over the foundation stone laying ceremony which was attended by eminent personalities from education, social service and community sectors. Chairperson of National Private and Boarding Schools Association Nepal (NPABSON) Geeta Chhetri Rana, Chairperson of SAN College Dr. Dipu Moni were also present on the occasion. Chairman of ING Group Sulabh Budhathoki, Chairman of Mahankal Community Forest Users Group Nirajan Mahat, Chairman of Mahankal Badminton Hall Srihari Thapa, social workers Surya Adhikari, Parasmani Dahal and Kumar Bhattarai, among others, were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director of SVAN School Karna Bahadur Shahi said that this educational project is a sign of change in the Nepali education sector.
“The school, which will be built in a peaceful, green and pollution-free environment, will pay special attention to the moral, intellectual and creative development of the students,” Shahi said.
According to him, the main building of the school will be constructed on its own 10 ropanis of land, whose structure will be spread over about 74,000 square feet and the school will be expanded to about 300 ropanis of land, which will include playground, science laboratory, library, creative arts center and state-of-the-art digital classrooms.
According to Shahi, classes 1 to 10 will be conducted within a year under the school’s initial plan. In the next phase, there is a plan to provide high quality and world-class education to students by incorporating international level courses such as A-Level, International Baccalaureate (IB) and Finnish courses in classes 11 and 12.
Our aim is to enable students not only with knowledge but also with life-saving skills, leadership skills and innovation-based education,” Shahi said. It is estimated that around Rs 350 million will be invested in the construction of the school.
The distinguished guests expressed their confidence that SVAN School would set the latest example in the Nepali education system in the future and wished success. Local social workers, parents, teachers, media persons and students were enthusiastically present in the program.
Director Shahi clarified that the aim was to establish SVAN School as a national and international educational destination and not just a local educational institution. “It will be our primary responsibility to provide quality, balanced and practical education as a result of the level of investment that parents make,” he said.
