Former Minister Pradeep Nepal, who suffered from Parkinson’s disease, passes away

Kathmandu. Nepal Communist Party (UML) leader and former minister Pradeep Nepal has passed away. Suffering from Parkinson’s disease for a few years, he passed away today at Norvic Hospital during treatment, informed UML Parliamentary Party Chief Whip Mahesh Bartaula.

He was the Minister of Information and Communications in the first left-wing government formed under the leadership of then Prime Minister Manmohan Adhikari. Similarly, he also held the responsibility of the Ministry of Water Resources and Education.

A member of the UML Politburo, he had been continuously writing in the fields of journalism and literature. Nepal also worked as the head and spokesperson of the UML’s publicity and publication department.

Nepal, who was an editor in Nawayug, Drishti, Jagdhan, and Prakash weekly, was also active as an article, composition, and regular columnist in various newspapers and magazines. During his underground days, he was known as Sanjay Thapa. Nepal was born on 28 Poush 2010 BS in Gogane village of Bhojpur.
