Kathmandu. Former Finance Minister and Nepali Congress lawmaker Gyanendra Bahadur Karki has said that entrepreneurs up to Rs 10 million are still suffering while taking loans.
In a discussion on BAFIA held at the Finance Committee on Monday, he said that the banks were causing misery to such borrowers and the Rastra Bank should pay serious attention.
According to him, the economy cannot move in the right direction unless small and medium enterprises are active. Therefore, there should be an environment to take loans easily. Karki said though bafia is a bill of importance, it needs to be reformed. He said that the bill should be passed soon to benefit the people.
Former Finance Minister Karki said, “Entrepreneurs who have taken loans up to Rs 10 million are still not able to take loans easily. The Rastra Bank should be serious. Conditions should be created to be able to take loans with enthusiasm, at cheap interest, and to repay the loan on time. ’
Karki, who is also a Nepali Congress lawmaker, stressed the need to move ahead by following the international practice on the difference between bankers and businessmen.
