Kathmandu. The Fire Safety and Electronic Security International Conference 2025, organized with the aim of reducing fire risks and promoting the latest technology related to electrical security, has started in Kathmandu from today.
This international conference, organized by Asia Pacific Security Association APSA Nepal, will be held for two days today and tomorrow at Hotel Yak & Yeti in Durbar Marg. The conference was inaugurated by Minister for Forest and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri. Speaking at the conference, he said that there is a lack of modern equipment and manpower for forest fire control and management.
He said that the government has no other option but fire engines to control forest fires. He also said that the government is taking forest fires seriously and is considering various options.
He said that all the mechanisms of the state have been mobilized for forest fire control and management. He said that due to the complex terrain, it is not possible to control forest fires with a single effort of the government and said that cooperation and coordination of all stakeholders is necessary.
‘The Nepal government has taken forest fires seriously. And it is not possible for the Nepal government to reduce it. Everyone’s efforts are needed to control forest fires. The role of all stakeholders, civil society, local communities, and youth is also important. The Ministry of Forest and Environment, Government of Nepal, has been taking this as an important disaster and is taking action,” he said.
Similarly, APSA Nepal President Sunil Kumar Shrestha pledged to continue collaborating with the government on fire safety issues in the coming days. He clarified that the important suggestions and recommendations raised from the conference will be presented to the relevant government bodies and that they will be coordinated with the government to implement them.
Shrestha pointed out that fire safety is not just a technical issue but an important issue related to people’s lives, preparedness, and the overall security system, and noted that coordination between the government, private sector, and stakeholders is indispensable in this regard. He also expressed his commitment to APSA Nepal to play an active role in public awareness, capacity building, and policy reform.
