Benny. Myagdi: One person was killed in a landslide while digging a road at Darkhola Hydropower Project at Muna of Dhawalagiri rural municipality-3 in Myagdi district. According to police, 32-year-old Khem Raj Kumalal, an excavator driver, died on the spot after he was buried in a landslide while digging the Kunauta-Dar Shilbang motorway under construction for the pipeline of the hydropower project.
The body of the excavator driver Kumal of Chapakot Municipality-8 of Syangja was found buried inside the excavator and preparations have been made to send the body to The State Hospital Beni for autopsy, said Assistant Inspector Bikram Tiwari of Takam Police Post. After the incident, police and locals pulled out the body of the excavator driver from the landslide.
The excavator was also completely damaged due to a sudden landslide while digging the motorway. The 6.5 MW Darkhola Hydropower Project, to be constructed by Darkhola Hydropower Limited, is currently constructing a road at Lampus Bhir to lay the penstock pipe.
