Kathmandu. Dinesh Thakali, vice-president of Development Association Nepal, has said that the government’s classification of development banks is not right.

Taking part in the discussion on the BAFIA Bill held at the Finance Committee on Wednesday, he said that the banks of category ‘D’ are viewed badly in the minds of the people while doing such classification. He said that the Development Bank has invested for the development of domestic and medium industries just like commercial banks have invested in projects.

He said that this sector, which has invested in agricultural produce business, should not be made an environment to spread a negative message among the people due to classification.

He said, “The classification of bank finance institutions is done, the D category bank is not looked at well. There has been a negative impact on the public. At least it is better to keep only A and B. Didn’t keep much. ’

In the classification, only A and B or development bank or commercial will be separated. According to him, the work done by the development bank should be widened. It can also support the economy. Instead of limiting the age of the operator, merit and experience should be made the basis.
