Kathmandu. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka has directed the Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC) to settle the issue of ‘wheeling charge’ for transmission of electricity at the earliest. In a discussion on ‘wheeling charges’ held at the Ministry of Energy today, Minister Khadka directed the private sector to resolve the issue of ‘wheeling charge’ for transmission of electricity as soon as possible.
Minister Khadka said, “The way for the construction of transmission line has been opened to the private sector to meet the energy development goals taken by the government.
Minister Khadka said that the issue of ‘wheeling charge’ could not be finalized even after a long time since the decision to construct the transmission line with the participation of the private sector was taken. Minister Khadka said that the issue of ‘wheeling charge’ should be resolved day and night. Energy Minister Khadka said the electricity generated in the rivulet was being wasted due to lack of transmission line and there was a need to import electricity from India during the dry season.
In the meeting, Chairman of the Electricity Regulatory Commission Dr Ram Prasad Dhital and member of the Commission Dr Madhusudan Adhikari presented to the Minister the preparations made by the Commission so far regarding the fee of ‘wheeling charge’ on the transmission line. State Minister at the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kham Bahadur Garbuja, Energy Secretary Suresh Acharya and joint secretary of the ministry were present in the meeting.
